Tank and hazardous-cargo barges
Hardware rated for hazardous locations (Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, T4), for barges carrying petroleum, chemicals and other flammable cargo.
FleetIQ and FleetIQ Pro are hazardous-location rated: Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, T4. DraftIQ certification is in progress.
Compare the trackers →What Class I, Division 2 means
Certified for areas where flammable gases or vapors can be present if something goes wrong, such as a leak or a vent release. That includes the deck of a tank barge.
| Class I | Flammable gases and vapors |
|---|---|
| Division 2 | Present only if something goes wrong, not during normal operation |
| Groups A, B, C, D | All four gas families: acetylene (A), hydrogen (B), ethylene-type gases (C), and propane, gasoline and most petroleum vapors (D) |
| T4 | The surface stays below 135 °C (275 °F), under the ignition point of the gases it is rated for |
Not for Division 1 spaces, where flammable vapor is present during normal operation, such as inside a cargo tank or at an open vent.
Sensors on the barge, readings in the app
Connect tank level, temperature, engine and fuel sensors to a FleetIQ Pro on the barge. Readings show next to the barge's position, alarms go to the people you choose, and every reading is kept.
Tank levels
Cargo level in each tank, so you see loading, discharge and any unexpected change.
Temperatures
Cargo and heating-system temperatures, with alarms above or below the limits you set.
Engine data
Generator and pump engines over J1939: hours, RPM, oil pressure, coolant temperature.
Fuel levels
Fuel in the barge's day tanks, with alerts before it runs low.
Bilge and void spaces
Water in voids and bilges, caught early.
Hatches and valves
Open or closed status where you have a switch fitted.
What you get
- Alarm thresholds for every reading
- History and trend charts for each sensor
- Alarm log with who saw it and when
- Keeps reporting with no cell signal through StationIQ
- J1939, Modbus RTU / TCP and IO-Link inputs
Sensors wire into FleetIQ Pro's engine and sensor inputs. It is rated for hazardous locations, so it can go on the deck of a tank barge. Use sensors that are rated for the same area.
